I've got a friend which have a Pentium 4 2.4Ghz Prescott, it hasn't got HTT and it is on a ASUS P4V8X-X Motherboard... now he want to overclock it and of course I have told him to let me help him... but honestly I'm not very used to work with this processors, so maybe you can help me, it is important to make a safe overclock... win performance... but without burning it, he want to have that system for at least five years more... I here your suggestions, thank you in advance!

What old stuff? The board may be a bit old, but the Prescott is new. 😀

The board does support 800mhz fsb via overclocking according to ASUS. That theoretically gets you to 3.6ghz with the 18 multiplier of that Prescott. You won't get that far, of course.

yeah definitely not old
well, i dunno, for some people maybe
i have a P4 2.4 at work and i am just dying to upgrade it cause it doesn't feel great compared with my A64 at home.
