why would u need to overclock a gtx 680? Its not fast enough?!? The wind force already comes factory overclocked, no?

wait, is this just another bragging thread?!!?

Well some people like to push the hardware to their limits, they do it just for fun.Now to Op it depends, check some wind force 3x review on the net and check how far the reviewers could push their sample.Take it as a rough estimate while ocing ur card.

Honestly, your GTX 680 may not overclock at all past the factory set overclock. It all depends on the chip itself, no two are made alike.

Download MSI afterburner and maybe Heaven benchmark. Overclocking usually takes a while to see if the card is stable, so increase the clock speed through AB, run heaven benchmark for a while to see if its stable, rinse and repeat till its not stable and go back to previous settings.

First, congrats on getting a GTX 680. Second, what are the other specs of your computer. Third, what monitor/monitors are you running? Fourth, I use EVGA precision with my GTX to OC it.

Silicon lottery... I ordered two ASUS GTX 670 Direct CU II and one of them can do 1300MHz +, whilst the other can not even make it to 1200MHz.

That's not how you over clock GTX 680 & 670s. You raise the boost limit as the cards auto clock the GPU & voltage.

Forgive me, I have had limited time to play around the 680..

If I remember correctly, and please correct me if I'm wrong, you raise the boost limit and then the card does the rest. However, if you manually raid the clock yourself, the boost will then apply the limit on top of the overclock..

So if you have an 1000mhz clock, the boost might take it up to 1150.

If you overclock that to 1100mhz clock, the boost would take it to 1250 (or whatever the card deems is safe to get up to).

Am I wrong in thinking this way?

OMG, my balls hurt when I read this post, I'm so sorry

What's the big deal? Of course I would have liked if they overclocked similar, but hey... that's just how this game works

Anyway, 100MHz extra on card number 2 would not have given me that much more performance. One can clock them individually in Afterburner anyway.

A side note, the stock boost of my best card in games defaults to 1124MHz, and 1084MHz for the lower card
