I have an Abit BH6 motherboard and I would like to know what's the highest amount of MHZ I can get outta this thing...with overclocking the chip and all. I'm gonna have 256MB of PC133 Mosel coming in soon so I think I will be able to withstand a nice overclock.
That is all,

The board does boast an 8 multiplier if I remember and a FSB selection up to 133... Perhaps up to 124 and 115 I think. But that is about it.

Check in your BIOS. Set it to manual in the CPU softmenu setup and you can change the voltage, multiplier, and fsb speeds. You can also flash the BIOS to a more updated version and see what you can do.

Which chip do you think would be best for it? Can i put a 700-E on this? Or a nice highly-overclockable Celeron? I have a 450A right now (you can check my rig out below =) - like that feature)...just want a little less jumpiness in games and faster loading times and whatnot.

Edit: Can I use ATA/66 or 100 with this Mobo? Sorry I don't know where to look to find this out.

You could get a C2 566 and up to 850 with a simple FSB adjustment
make sure you flash to the latest BIOS.

Go to www.abit-usa.com and look for the info you need.

I think you can put a 700 in it if thats what you're looking for.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't support ATA66 or ATA100...you'll need a separate controller card for that.
check the abit page to see for sure

Edit: I had a C2 566@700 on a BX6 (the predecessor to yours) so I know you can put that chip in.

I am curious about the specs on the soon to be released 100mhz Celerons, and if they will be supported in a BIOS update from ABIT in the future. Would make for a nice second computer.

I used to have a BH6 v1.01 and ran a slot 1 700e @ 868MHz (124FSB). I remember the FSB going up to 133MHz, and it is ata33 only. It was a very stable board.

Thanks all you guys for your help...I am gonna buy a pretested 950 MHZ celeron from Compuwiz1 so I can get the most MHZ for my buck. I am a poor college student, so I dig the low price also.

hey i am using the bh6 as well. used it for 2 years with a C400 @564 mhz, and it is rock stable. with newer revisions of the BIOS i think it has more steps for its FSB. am even thinking of getting a CuMine but keeping the bh6! :)

i have on my BH6 rev 1.0 board ... a celeron2 533 ... which runs nicely at 896mhz ... at 112fsb its a decent overclock .. mobo is perfectly stable ...

i know it supports FSBs of 66,75,83,100,103<--- (100 with turbo setting),112,125, and 133 mhz ...

it may be old ... but its a kick-a$$ board

I love my new Kt7 raid board ... but that old bh6 still is awesome after all this time (i used to run it with 300a @ 464)
