Hi, i was thinking about purchasing a 1.2ghz thunderbird DDR. I was wondering how much extra mhz i could get out of this chip with say a $30-40 globalwin fan/heatsink. Also, what sort of memory + other components would I need to make this happen? Thanks in advance for the help

just from reading what others have done, i would say that you could hit 1.4ghz quite easily. you'll need some good ram (ie. crucial, corsair, mushkin). you may be able to hit 1.5 ghz
your cooling should be sufficient.

as for the settings, i've seen many ppl successful with multiplier 10x140 fsb. you may be able to do something like 10.5x140 or even 10x150
you never know. just gotta experiment

good luck

Since this is DDR, to hit say 1.4 or 1.5, will i need pc1600 or pc2100? I was thinking about getting 2 or 3 sticks of pc1600 crucial ram since they're only about $60 a stick. Better than the $120 for pc2100.

the o/cing of the 1.2ghz tbird(at least the 100fsb...which as easily be set to 133 fsb) is hit or miss..some people have been very successfully...there are reports of 1500mhz but I have all seen an equal number where people can not reach 1400mhz..(one report is 1.2 max at 1300)

my personal 1.2 is stable between 1380-1400...I have got it to post at 1485 but Win crashes on the load...part of my problem maybe my ram(mosel vitellic) on the Asus A7V133 which is known to have some problems at the high fsb over 143 with optimal settings...

O/Cing has no guarantees...unless you buy from Compuwiz1...not only will his chips reach there stated speed(he pretests them) but it back his deal 125%...he is great..period

Doing 1407Mhz@1.80V. It can go further, but my cooling is not sufficient at this time.
