I ordered a Grande Decaf starbucks coffee and put a little bit of sugar and skim milk in it. I actually feel a little wired right now. I basically never have caffine anymore. It could also be because I really didn't eat too much today, and only had that coffee...

Decaf coffee has little or no caffeine in it AFAIK. I think you're just experiencing a placebo effect. ;)

IIRC, from when i worked at a starbucks, Their coffee actually has LESS caffine than regular coffee, because of the way they dark roast their beans for that stronger, bitter taste.

Decaf coffee does have some caffeine in it.

As far as I remember it was something like 5mg. where a regular coffee has 40mg.

But it's very possible that they mixed up your order....:Q

Decaf is really lowcaf at Starbucks. If I have a large frap from one of their stores, I get a slight caffeine buzz. But then, I'm very sensitive to caffeine. Just a small regular frap has me climbing the walls.

Well, since I missed this thread a few weeks back when it was active, please allow me to add my input at this time. A few years back, one of our local news stations purchased several different cups of decaffeinated coffee around the area and then tested them for the level of caffeine. Out of all the cups tested, Starbucks had the highest levels of caffeine present. While the caffeine level was still below that of caffeinated coffee, their decaf coffee still had the highest levels of caffeine out of all the coffees.

I stopped drinking caffeinated coffee over a year ago and now drink decaffeinated coffee. Out of all the coffee that I purchase, the Starbucks will always give a slight "bump" in energy like I would experience when I was drinking heavy amouts of caffeine in my past life. This past Summer, I did have a bad incident with a cup of Starbucks coffee. I was a little thirsty for a cup of Decaf, so I stopped by my local Starbucks. The person serving the coffee was a cross-dresser (man dressed as a woman and the guy had to be about 50 years old!!) The coffee that I received was a regular cup of coffee that I enjoyed. When the cup was gone, I realized what I had just drank. The caffeine in that coffee had me rolling for a good 7+ hours. Future trips to the same Starbucks revealed that they probably fired the cross-dress because the individual was no longer present (sorry, there were no 50-year-old males working there either) in the even the cross-dresser had decided to no cross-dress. However, I kept looking for that individual because I would have given him/her/it a good piece of my mind. ;)

Decaf coffee generally has from 5-15mg per serving.

Interesting note: The darker the roast, the stronger the taste, but the less caffeine content.

One cup of a nice medium / light roast coffee has about 150mg caffeine. However, one shot of espresso has only one-third to one-half that.

And for the record, Starbucks brewed coffee tastes like monkey poo. Peet's / Coffee Bean / Diedrich's 0wnz.

I'm a total coffee freak. I generally get a triple or quad mocha at Starbucks when I go there, or a large brewed coffee (20 oz) anywhere else. However, if I'm at a diner that gives you an entire carafe, I'll drink 8-12 cups easily. I only get mildly wired after that. Hm.
