How much better would DVI make my monitor look?

I have a new 1901FP from Dell.com. I'm wondering how much better picture quality I'd get if I upgraded my video card to a DVI out card? Thanks in advance.

Depends on what video card you have right now. I think you'd see the biggest improvment from improving the quality of the card.

from my sole experience... if you have it use it... its night and day. for those LCDs that don't have it the difference is there but isn't as obvious. my friend has the same LCD as yours and i was wondering why everything was so blurry... even compared to mine which does not have a DVI input. when we switched it to DVI... it was sharper and had much brighter colors. i'm assuming its from the quality of the adapters in the monitor...

I currently have a Visiontek Geforce 3 without DVI. I'm wondering if I should save some $ and get a 9800 pro 256mb Hercules card from newegg.com?

geforce 3s have very good IQ, thats very expensive to go DVI... you could get a TI4200 for under $100 with VIVO and dual DVI.

256 MB video cards right now are virtually useless and are not worth the money.

yes they can but it's no use really... CRT = analog... perhaps you'll even lose slight image quality due to the conversions from digital to analog. BNC connections are better for CRT IMHO...

At high res, 1600x1200 on dual lcd, big ass difference.. let me try to take a pic since I got a pair of these on analog/dvi.. even the 36" tv im getting has dvi-in now.. getting that samsung dvi dvd player..

some CRTs actually have a dvi input... but yes its pointless.
