how much better would a modded 9800se be than a 9600pro?

New egg has one for $77.00, and my friend's 9600pro is starting to get old for him. I figure if I can soft mod it to 8 pipes and get an OC going, he'd be okay for another year or so...

If you could get the 8 pipes functioning and clocked to at least 9700 non pro clocks, then you should be good for another year or so at middle level details in games.
