I am in the process of a new computer build and have almost everything except the ddr. I have heard lots of good things about Corsair XMS. My MB is Asus A7n8x, processor: xp 2700+thoroughbred. GeForce 4 Ti 4200 8x 128MB and 400w power supply. I am looking for 2 512M pc3200 chips. What exactly is the difference in Kingston, Crutial an Corsair besides the price? Is the Corsair really worth the extra money based on it's performance vs. The 2 mentioned earlier. I will not initially be overclocking, but might look into it in the future. Could anyone provide any suggestions on the best ram to get for the system (bang for the buck)?

I've always had great luck with Corsair XMS memory. It's good stuff and generally gets decent reviews.

OCZ's PC3200 memory is known to produce some good results, and sells for a bit less than XMS memory I believe. I've got some doing DDR450 in my rig and I've heard of people hitting speeds much higher with it. I wouldn't let the OCZ brand name scare you.. it looks like they're actually getting their act together w/ some nice products. In fact, I think they use the same chips as Corsair PC3200, actually....I could be wrong though :)

I'm not sure how your mobo will respond to Crucial.. I've heard they've had some problems with some n-force boards? Again, I could be wrong, hehe.

I am using the Corsair TwinX-LL (2X256) and am very pleased with its performance.

There has been a lot of discussion over at overclockers.com about this PC3200 CL2 512Mb sticks for $89
Many are getting equal to or better than the Corsair performance for much less.

I just ordered 2X512 sticks yesterday to check it out for myself.

I've used them all and I would recommend getting the Crucial because of it's support, price, and performance......not to mention the lifetime warranty if your not going to OC (eventhough it does ;))

Crucial PC2700 doesn't work well with NForce 2 boards, at least that is what I heard... I'm not sure I would wanna risk it with their 3200 on an Nforce2.

If your not overclocking, two sticks of Viking Quality Value Memory for $55 per 512MB PC2700 stick @ newegg is worth checking out.
