How much better is a 6600 GT than a 9800 pro?

I will be getting a refurbished dell in early this week with an ATI Radeon Pro 9800 (128mb) pro in it. I have looked at some benchmarks and have found that the Geforce 6600 GT(128mb) has an edge on the 9800 pro. I have looked in the dell forums, and found that the dell PS can easily handle a 6600 GT.

I would like your opinion in the matter. Should I go ahead and try to sell off the 9800 pro and get a 6600 GT, or should I just wait a while (6 months to a year I guess) and get something else? I am not extremly concerned with high 3dmark scores, just what will last longest into the future without me having to upgrade. It seems that right now the 9800 pro is falling in the mid-point of everything and will be "old" by the summer. I also would like to get a jump on this, seeing as how the ATI Radeon is still worth at least $150.00 and the Geforce can be had for around 220.00$

6600GT is substantially faster, particularly in new games like Doom3 and such, but I'm not sure exactly how much. It's comparable to a slightly overclocked 9800XT, so, say, maybe 30% faster than a 9800 Pro. Personally, if the games you play run fine on a 9800 Pro, I'd just hold onto it and see what develops in the future. If someone really wants to buy your 9800 Pro and is willing to pay a good price for it, then go for it, the 6600GT will definitely be faster, for new and future games. But I wouldn't be in a mad rush to upgrade and probably take a loss financially in order to get 30% faster performance. My rule of thumb is to never upgrade until I'm getting something at least twice as fast for a reasonable price. If you can, wait a year to get a 6800GT for $200, or next gen mainstream parts, like a 7600GT or whatever is out then.
