My currant build is-

Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe
AMD Athlon XP3200+ Barton
2 GB PC3200 DDR400 (2x1GB)
Asus N6600GT 128 AGP 8x

This build has been extremely stable and reliable but is almost 3 yrs. old and am considering upgrading to the following new build-

Asus P5K Deluxe/WIFI
E6600
2GB Crucial Ballistix (2x1GB) PC2 6400 DDR@ 800
Asus EN8800GTS 640

My ??????... How much noticeable better performance can one get out of the P5K Deluxe if I am not planning on doing much OC'ing?

Will be using for moderate gaming, Lite Photoshop and general computing.

Also, what does anyone know about the P5K Deluxe. From what I've read so far, it sounds like a great board.

Thanks much for any and all input

Hard to find a direct comparison, but, compare a 3200XP to an Athlon64 4000:

http://www23.tomshardware.com/...69&chart=71&model2=240

http://www23.tomshardware.com/...69&chart=61&model2=240

AMD64 is approximately 50% faster or so....

Then compare the Conroe 6600 to the Athlon 64 4000: the 6600 kills it:

http://www23.tomshardware.com/...2&model2=486&chart=187

http://www23.tomshardware.com/...2&model2=486&chart=165

The 6600 beats the 4000 handily in a price/performance approximation:

http://www23.tomshardware.com/...2&model2=486&chart=195

So, going from a single core Athlon XP to a dual core, very efficient, big cache processor, along with some good memory, the 6600 will be much faster, smoother, better, cooler, etc....

*Not* an Intel fanboi, by the way...I have an Opteron system....but, Intel did a great job with the Conroe....
