How much below MSRP do import dealers go?

If they go below MSRP at all.

I've never even gone into an imported car dealer lot. Now my wife has her eye on a Celica GT-S. I've been shopping online and getting MSRP numbers, but don't feel like giving out email/ph# and having them hound me because we aren't really ready to buy right now. What can I expect?

Just like domestic dealers. If the car is in high demand then they don't budge much, but on a car that's fairly common you can generally get them below invoice. Dad bought mom's Maxima SE (1998) for $6,000 below MSRP. You just have to be ready to walk away.

Forget the MSRP.
Know what the dealer cost is and work on a reasonable cost based on that.
Although if it's in high-demand you might not have much leverage.
I got my Civic for about $3000 less tahn MSRP...

everything depends....they might go as low as $2-3 hundred over invoice, or even invoice itself. it might not seem they make money on the sale but they'll stick you on the dealer fees and pocket some cash on the holdback at the end of the year

calling many dealers...looking around, doing research...check edmunds for invoice prices; know if a dealer has had a model on the lot for a while (happens w/ unpopular models)

cchen that's a good site, however it asks for my PH# to quote me a price. This could open up the door for a continous stream of phone calls between now and infinity.

$300 over factory invoice? Heck, I'm in the business and $300 over is not worth my time to sell it.

Some cars I sell command $10,000 over MSRP, and we get it. :)
