How much bandwidth does F@H use?

I live in a college dorm where bandwidth is limited. I'm thinking about running F@H, but how much bandwidth does it use?

Shouldn't this be in the DC forum?

It depends on which client you use. The GPU client uses only a few hundred KB every time it finishes a work unit; about 200 to upload a unit, and 50-odd to download a new one. The SMP client, on the other hand, uses bandwidth quite a bit; a WU can be up to 45MB at upload (though the new SMP2 work units are about 20MB or so), and about 5MB to download a new WU. I used to do an SMP2 WU every six hours on my i7, not sure how fast a Phenom would go through them.

Not much. You download a job, work on it for a week (or however long it takes), then upload the results.

Just make sure you are not in Georgia.

The last time I got a work unit that took a week to work was about 2 years ago. If this guy properly configures his client, the longest it should take for his work units to finish is about a day. At most. If the original Phenoms are absolutely horrible at folding.

He got canned and arrested for putting it on a ton of computers at a place he was working at IIRC.

He has been batshit ever since
It's called Inappropriate Use of Company Resources.

The -bigadv WUs are 30MB download & 100MB upload every 2 -3 days, but for those you need i7 w/HT or multi-CPU systems.
