I see tons of ppl posting from facebook mobile all the time. Does everyone seem to have a data plan? I personally think it's crazy to pay $60/mo. for a plan that includes data.

I have an old family share plan for $22/phone with no data plan. If I wanted data, that would be another $30, easily doubling the cost and even if I commuted everyday, I don't see myself using it more than 5 mins a day. In contrast, I can sit in front of my computer at home for hours on end.

If you have a share plan, divide and tell us how much it's costing you and whether you have a data plan.

EDIT>> Looks like VZW unlimited data is $50/mo., then you have your minutes plan.

No data plan on my phone. On campus there is wi-fi everywhere so my touch satisfies by mobile browsing needs. I pay $21/month for unlimited texting and mobile to mobile calling. Alltel ftw.

I used to get their employee discount and the free data via minutes (free after 9pm and weekends basically). I thought SERO was $30/mo. on top of whatever minute plan you got? They no longer allowed using minutes for data. That, plus the poor coverage for me made me switch and I've been without data ever since. How'd you get SERO (or EVDO) for free - is that standard for Sprint plans now?

SERO was unlimited data and 500 minutes/month.

I suppose if you have poor coverage no amount of discounts would be worth it.

You would think that the prices would get cheaper over the years. I'm paying $40 now instead of $30 from like 5 years ago. Sure I get nationwide, which I don't use, and more minutes which I don't use. I still get the same unlimited nights and weekends, which I still use. Basically, there's no regular plan for unlimited nights/weekends anymore for less than $40.

It depends on the provider. My smartphone data plan through Alltel is only $10/mo, and it also allows for unlimited tethering (I actually use it as my main internet connection because there's no cable/DSL where I live). Recently they upped the rate to $15/mo for smartphones, though, but I guess we were grandfathered in at the old rate. I think you can get cheaper plans, but they don't allow you to tether to a PC, only use the web on the phone itself.

T-mobile Family
1000 minutes w/ unlimited m2m
unlimited texts/MMS
EDGE on one line -- use this on my iphone
2 phones on the plan

60$~~ a month :) -- I get a 15% discount, and I got in on a 29.99$ for the family plan YEARS ago. I will NEVER get rid of it (and edge for 4.99$ per month) , unless there is something cheaper.

Too fucking much :(.

I'm with Rogers (Canada) and I pay through the anus for service. 100 daytime/1000 evening minutes (5pm), call display, CW, VM, $0.15 per text (but incoming texts are free). After system access fee, taxes and other miscellaneous bullshit, about $48 per month. No data plan.

I called the other day about switching to an employee discount plan. They were going to give me unlimited texting and 200 daytime minutes, plus the other features I currently have - that would be a nice upgrade, right? The price (after fees and taxes) was $42 per month, plus they would lock me into a new 3 year contract (my existing one is only 2 years :|), and charge the $35 setup fee again. Um, fuck no.

Fido offers a much better deal for $30/month but I would get raped on early cancellation fees if I end my contract now, so I would lose out in the long run. I've calculated that I need to wait another 8 months to cancel so the early cancellation fee is offset by the savings from going with Fido. Fuck me.

Don't get me wrong, Rogers service is pretty good, but for the price I pay, I would expect some Astroglide and a complimentary reacharound.

I got in on the spring sero plan. About $33/mth unlimited data, 300 or 500 free mins. Best deal ever. Only drawback is none of the Spring phones are anywhere near Iphones.

Sprint SERO and a Palm Centro. $30/mo for 500 mins, unlim. nights and weekends (9pm), and unlimited data. I think texts are either unlimited or 500/mo, either way I don't send that many.

I use Virgin Mobile, $100 per year at $0.30 a minute, $0.25 a text. The browser is reasonably priced for emergency use.

My phone is barely on, but when I need it, it's there. I'm starting to get annoyed at my phone's reception though. After my Nokia (good while it lasted) died a few months ago, I just bought a very cheap, no frills LG160. Everything's static-y, even in open air and with a good signal.

How'd you get corp discount on top of SERO? They told me I'd lose that when I applied the SERO discount, and I didn't argue because $30/mo is still a bargain.

Comes out to $33 after taxes.

my family sticks to us cellular, and you can get unlimited data on a family plan for $49 a month...thats unlimited on all the lines on the family plan. individual lines are 20 a month, with another 5 if you have a blackberry for their email.

us cellular is smallish, so they usually get phones late and dont have anything 3g because their networks dont support it, but their rates are decent.
