I'm pricing it out now and it doesn't seem all that much cheaper than Comcast.

FiOS TV Ultimate HD
FiOS Internet Speeds up to 35 Mbps/ 35 Mbps
FiOS Digital Voice - Unlimited Plan

1 DVR, 1 Cable Card, 1 Basic Adapter, and 2 Boxes comes out to $145/mo. before taxes

If Comcast was $30 a month I would still keep FIOS. I have had both, and after 2+ years of FIOS, with never an outage, I think it's worth it.

Cost and bundles vary by area so it's hard to compare, but I have Extreme TV, 20/5 Internet and Verizon Freedom Essentials phone (similar to Digital Voice), for $119/month (for service only, not counting any boxes).

Same. Charter would go out constantly. I've not once lost internet in over a year with FioS.

Some of my promos expired, so currently paying $112.67 for 25/25 and 1 HD-DVR and 1 HD box with the extreme HD package. No contract.

I LOVE threads like this. I get to brag.

Due to my uber fantastic negotiating skills (and, of course, luck), I am currently paying $87.06/mo for my Fios Triple Play with unlimited phone, 25/25 internet, 1 HD DVR, with the "extreme HD" tier and also HBO, Starz, Max, Showtime, IFC and every other premium movie channel.

They've kept trying to fuck my bill and I've kept successfully complaining and my bill has steadily inched down as a result. $87.06 is the new low, and will hold for the last two months.

My year will then be up at the end of Sept. but I now have a personal contact in the "President's Office" who swears he will help me get the best new deal he can.

When I expressed skepticism he told me "you're in good hands with me." He's told me I can call him any time I have any problem at all, and has answered within 1 hour the one time I did.

If he can somehow keep me under $110/mo for all this for the next year I'll be amazed and grateful. We'll see.

Why are you guys getting their home phone service still? Any reasons you aren't just using cell phones completely?

Perk, you are the man. I have a good friend who is a Verizon CSR and he said he can't even help me get the cost down.

When you want to learn some real negotiating come talk to me. I'm paying $58.29 a month for everything you said + free PPV.

With Verizon, I couldn't have saved much, if anything, by moving from the Triple Play to a duo.

Lol, I'm sure you know all this already, kranky, but you have to patiently go up the chain, and when you hit a dead end, which you mostly will, start all over again until you luck out.

Luck no doubt plays a part, but if you are consistently polite, friendly, and personal but persistent, good things can and will happen.

I want to hear arciente's story!

Ok guys. Putting you on the spot. Just got off the phone with Verizon, they would not lower my bill.

I told them I hear of people paying like $70 for all three services + PPV. She told me it was impossible and that they are lying to you. Said if you show me their bill, I will match that price.

So calling you guys out, all she needs is your account phone number so she can look up your bill, if you'd be willing to PM it to me.

hell i just wish verizon would bring fios to my area.

I'm stuck with Time Warner. If things work out, moving to a suburb with FIOS in a couple of months.

I've heard their HD tv quality is better. Not sure I do enough downloading to care about the higher internet speeds.

Man these mother fuckers lol. So I ended up cancelling my tv service entirely, effective after this period. Would not work with me at all. Bill would be going up to $132 next cycle for just tv + internet, fuck that.

Yhpm, just don't get too excited.

Anyway, this is the usual dance. Standard procedure is to restrict special offers to new subscribers only. Generally, you'll have to go somewhere else for a month of two, and then check back in.

Yea. Think the reason they aren't willing to do anything is because I'm the one calling them up.

When I started with Fios, all I got was internet. They were the ones that called me offering tv service. Kept declining their offers cause the price wasn't right, so the CR kept "finding" promos and got the bill to where I was willing to accept. Now though all those promos will expire and tv just isn't worth it.

Will just go back to HD antennas and more downloading like before, maybe get netflix too.

I had comcast and was paying ~150-160. I wanted to switch to fios just to see how the service was so I ordered Fios. I call comcast and said that im cancelling going to verizon.

They said we can lower your bill to 100 bucks i said sure, keep the service.

Called fios to cancel my order and they said we will do it for 95$ exteme all movie channels except skinimax

I now moved to an area only serviced by comcast so im so greatful im getting plowed in the ass again.

Holy Guacamole! I got a call today from my contact in the Verizon Presidential Escalation Office regarding the key point of my expiring contract and his promise to get me "the best deal going forward", which I kept pressing him as to whether that would mean A COMPARABLE DEAL or not, since you always have to be sensitive to the language employed in any business deal.

He's repeatedly assured me YES and I've remained entirely skeptical, since the deal I have now is unusual and killer.

Well, he said K**** would be calling me later today from his office to assist me. Just got off the phone with her. It did not start well. She hadn't been adequately briefed at all and was reading from notes and didn't seem to know what she was supposed to do. My heart sank.

First off, I got the number for her direct line. I have now two direct lines into this august office.

Amazingly, things got better. Much, much better. Indeed, much, much, much better. Not only will she work her legerdemain to keep my bill @ ~ $87 while retaining everything I have, it will be for the next 24 months!!

But wait, there's more! I presently have an HD DVR, one room only. With no increase for the next 24 months, she's gonna call me back tomorrow and guide me through (apparently you have to do this on-line) getting a multi-room HD DVR with increased storage capacity that allows you to watch two different programs in separate rooms simultaneously while recording another -- or something like that.

Btw, the other premium movie channel I currently get is Epix. I may never have watched anything on it, ever, though. <shrug>

Anyway, time will tell, but for right now, "I esscited."

Nice. I'm not too far off. I literally pay $99 a month, after taxes for an HD DVR, 2nd box for the bedroom, Showtime, TMC, Epix, Starz and Encore (basically everything but Cinemax or HBO). 25 over 25 internet, and Phone.

There's a wide variance in what subscribers to this thread are reporting for their monthly bills. These service providers are such scam artists. Why not offer the lowest possible price to everyone? I thought that was the way capitalism worked? What's described here seems to be a form of corrupt socialism where you have one or two providers in the market and the price is has more to do with corruption and cronyism than competitive capitalism. Is this the U.S. or some backwater hell hole?

Edit: By the way I'm considering switching from Time Warner Cable+Internet to FIOS Cable+Internet+phone.

Anyone know how long it takes to be considered a new customer again by FioS?

Going to try to make them compete with Time Warner. If they still don't deal with me, will switch for 3 months and then see if I can make a good deal. Or will have my gf call and start service under her name with new customer promos.

Sucks they care about new customers more than loyal ones, but I guess that's how most of these companies roll.
