I get some federal back.

Grrrrr.
It seems that the state didn't withold enough of my unemployment, so now I'm still without income (no job) and the state wants it back.
You suck NC!

Actually, I keep the deductions trimmed to a $0 return balance, but we had some charitable donations, educational expenses, day care, etc...

$13.5K in deductions this year... ($2,800 in child care alone)

in 00' I traded $250K worth of stocks & owed ~$2,000:(

1800 fed, 500 state.

One of my employers this year took out too much money during the year, so I got most of it back. That, and I have student loans, house payments, and medical expenses I was able to deduct, so it worked out pretty nice, considering last year I had to pay 950.

As I hate to give the gov't an interest free loan, I get no refund. Instead I owe a small amount that actually just got paid today.

Owed $145 Fed, $105 state.

I feel the same way. I usually have "just enough" taken out so that I owe maybe $100 or so at the end of the year. More money in my pocket every payday and less free loan to Uncle Sam.

However, I made a lot more money at Job#2 this past year and they didn't take out any taxes.

We get back every penny we paid to the feds. With child credits and the earned income credit, we were assessed $0 in federal taxes, so everything we paid gets to come right back to us. The state won't be so nice, but we still get a little.
