How much are companies worried about dual-layer DVD burners?

There are many legitimate uses for DVD-9, but how much do you think piracy will increase when dual-layer burners hit the market. All Xbox/PS2 games can fit on a single disc, all DVD movies, etc. With no removing audio tracks, or downsampling of movies...

I myself have not bought a DVD burner because I've been waiting for dual layer. I'm sure there are many people just like me.

What do you think?

the real question is what happens when dvd burners are under $50 with no rebates, like cdrws are, and the discs are $0.50 each.

Movie companies are certainly worried, but I think that the release of dual layer dvd burners is just going to drive Sony and M$ to use proprietary media for their next gen consoles.

Blu-ray is the next generation. By the time the media gets cheap enough the hype will be about blu-ray.

Cost isn't really an issue. 8x burners are under $100 and blank media under a buck. Sure, dual-layer will drive those prices down, but not to the point where there's going to be a huge influx of new users. People that want a DVD burner already have a DVD burner, moving the price point from $90 to $50 isn't a big deal.

Actually, the price is well under $100 now... if you want a 1x or 2x or 4x burner. I've got a 4x and don't think it's worth it to pay the price for the 8x burners (although, I've been reconsidering it since mine's a -R and the better media/deals seem to be for +R) I think I'm going to wait for the 16x burners to come out. (and, that's supposed to be the limit for dvd burners.)
