How much are braces?

Thinking about Invisalign. I'm 19 and have a gap in my front teeth (inspired by the gap in front teeth thread).
 
people that have it that i know tell me it's more expensive than braces and takes longer but of course you can't see them and they are removeable, i wanted these but they told me i'd have to have them on for at least a year longer than regular braces and would be much more expensive since they have to make a ton of molds
 
I heard that invisalign only works if you only need minor teeth straightening, and that it might turn yellow over time.

Braces aren't that bad, especially when you get to choose the COLORS!!! It's extra fun when the orthodontist changes the color of your braces in december, because then you can choose green and red for Christmas!
 
My lower jaw invisialign is 4100 but then again, Im in NYC so they jack up the price for rent too... you'll need to call them to find a place that'll do FREE consultation.. otherwise, they'll try to rape you

I'm only fixing crowding (3 teeth total) in my lower jaw. I had it since Feb of this year, my fix consist of 12 trays and I'm on tray 9. Avg 2 tray per month. Sometimes they'll add a week to each tray. Its pretty good.. I can take it off and eat and brush and put the tray back on..

The only reason is that I put away 2k on flex spending last year and this to offset my tax and i got no surgery that i wanna do.. well except my breast enlargement.. so pretty much its on flex spending..

I got pics of my trays if you want to see it.. ill have to go home and take them tonight

dude, im a guy, i often joke at work about getting breast and coming back as a woman with my flex $$$
 
regular, wire braces are cheaper. i had them for two years (7th to 9th grade) and they were absolutely terrible. when they took them off it was amazing though.
 
I thought standard wire braces were about $1500 ? Anyway, I asked my dentist and invisalign is $5000. My insurance would pick up half...

I'm curious to see others' prices too... this guy has been shady in the past.
 
when i had it done, full braces were 3500$. My teeth have sense moved back to where they were. Waste of 3500$. IMO, its not worth getting braces until you have your wisdom teeth out. Seems like my wisdom teeth have caused my teeth to shift.
 
Really depends on how much you need done, how long it will take, etc.

There is no set price.

Invisalign is a little more than standard wire, but from what my orthodontist told me it doesn't do as good a job (not as accurate). Whenever I get around to doing mine I'll be using standard wire.

I was quoted around $5K for wire, a little more (15% I think?) for Invisalign.

Same thing happened to me. I got my braces off at 18, wore the retainer for the recommended 2 years, but my wisdom teeth grew in and caused my top teeth to shift back. I'm thinking about getting Invisalign once I start working.

BTW my braces cost about $3K total, but that was about 8 years ago.
