How much alcohol is in an AMF?

I had one of these the other night, and given the name I was expecting something to put me out, especially given my asian tolerance..but it's one of the few drinks I've been able to chug, and I hardly felt anything.
 
Not that I know what the hell an AMF is but if it's a mixed drink I can only imagine that there is as much alcohol in it that one puts into it.
 
sounds like they gave you a weak one.

It's supposed to be as strong, if not stronger, than a long island.

And true, one won't knock you out, but if you were able to chug it, it wasn't strong enough! Find a better bar!! :beer:
 
Typically:
* 1 oz Vodka
* 1 oz Gin
* 1 oz White rum
* 1 oz Blue Curacao
* 6 oz Sour mix
* 6 oz 7-Up

almost 3 shots worth (figuring 1.5oz per shot). One of them certainly shouldn't knock you on you ass

(note: some will serve it up at .5oz per alcohol making it barely over a single shot, that might be what you got)
 
AMF is a strong drink, but that is only if the bar you go to makes it strong. Most bars do not serve more than 2oz of alcohol per drink due to liablity issues.
 
That's probably what I got Staley. I was extremely disappointed to pay $8 for a drunk that didn't do anything to me.

And afterward I got a coke and rum and asked for two shots of rum in it (which makes 3 ounces), and then I began to sort of feel it 🙂

Some of us just don't like to waste time with girly drinks 😛

In my earlier days of drinking I doubled shotted tequila after maybe 4 drinks prior to that. That certainly wasn't an experience worth repeating..

Last summer 2 buddies and I downed 10 shots of tequila and a beer each in an hour... boy was I sorry for the rest of that day and all of the next day 😱

I drink 151 because in the city it's the most economical shot you can buy. Only takes $25 to get to a good place with 151 (3 shots + tip)

You have to know your limits, obviously, but I know how much 151 I can take. And like I said, it is a google "get drunk fast" drink, second only to straight Everclear, which takes the crown in zero-to-drunk performance.
 
If you go to Vegas they make AMFs with about 3~4 shots in one glass. Usually it's the same kind of glass they serve Long Islands in, whatever the amount those can hold is.

Vegas AMFs are worthy of the name.
 
Like just about all drinks with more than 2 ingredients, how to make one differs wildly depending on where you order it. 2 bars a block apart could use very different recipes. Some make it very strong with lots of booze and comparatively little of the mixers. Some will use little booze and lots of mixer. The recipe I use:

1/2 oz Vodka
1/2 oz Gin
1/2 oz Silver Tequila
1/2 oz White Rum
1 oz Blue Curacao

12-16 oz glass with ice, equal parts of sour mix and 7up/Sprite to fill the glass. About 3 or 4 oz of each should do it.
