How much CFMs?

Ive seen some 41CFM@34db...(80mm), for a mere 3 bucks...also some quieter ones that pump less air

And- those fans with thermal sensor speed control things...u kno, they goto higher rpm @ higher temps. With those, what is generally a good "stepping"? Like is 85C-41CFM, 65C-33CFM...good?

or maybe...45C-43CFM@37db, 40C-39CFM@35db...etc

this is for a 1.2ghz AMD system...will probably OC to about 1.4+, so heat matters (i think)

thanks,

There's not specific amount of air that a fan should move. Your decision should be based on how much noise you're willing to put up with and how cool you want your system. Personally I prefer quieter fans. My computer may be a degree or two warmer but I don't care. :)

As for the steppings thing, I have no idea. Sorry.

Hey, it's Muerto! Haven't seen you for awhile. Hi there! No reason for that statement. I just enjoy seeing names from when I first got here, that's all. Oh yeah, The Post.

As Muerto said, there's no specific "good airflow measurement", it depends solely on what you are doing w/your rig and what type of rig it is and the case, etc...

From what I've gleaned thru my own questions as well as reading the similar questions that others have posted:

System Temp
If, at idle, your system temp is equal to or slightly (1-3C) above room temp, you are in really good shape

CPU Temp (for TBirds)
If, under stress, your CPU temp is significantly under the AMD's listed max temp, you are good to go. For example, my 1Gig TBird's max temp is 90C (can u say "fry eggs?" :Q) but I know that anything approaching 60C is bad news. So, I can deduce that my "under stress" temp of 51C is very good.

I hope this helps. Good luck!

ic ic...noise ehh...i think i can deal with about 30db b4 i explode :)

which is great, cuz there are tons of fans in that noise range.

Yawn, I have a YSTech 120 mm fan that does 138 CFM and sound like a jet engine.
