I have an 03 focus, I bought it with a Flowmaster already installed....it annoys the hell out of me, how much would it cost to bring it back to stock. I can't do it, so a mechanic would have to. I was hoping it would be cheap, or maybe not worth the hassle?

thanks

03 focus zx3

Just a muffler, or the entire exhaust? I replaced mine in my driveway, so it only cost what I paid for the parts. If you just need the muffler replaced, it shouldn't be too expensive..

Sell the flowmasters on ebay after you cut them off. I bet you can get $80 for them... or more. I sold my pair of Flows for 80 locally for some louder mufflers (lol)

@ Jlee. If he has flowmasters on a stock catback than i bet the previous owner got it welded on.

I do my mustang exhaust in my garage since nothing is welded. *all ball socket joints*

What i suggest it buying a cheap muffler at a exhaust shop and have it welded on. Should be under $100 for everything if you go to a mom and pop shop. If you go to a big chain like Midas.. they will rape you with no lube.

If you like the car, I would go with an OEM exhaust. You probably need a "cat back" exhaust system which doesn't include the catalytic converter but it includes all pipes, muffler, tailpipe and resonator (if there is one).

I just replaced the exhaust on my Saturn because it was rusting and the parts were $420, ordered online. THey would have been $700 if I bought them at the local dealer. I installed them in my driveway and the car sounds great. (nice and quiet)

You might take it to a local muffler shop to see what they have to say. They will certainly be able to hook you up with a generic that fits your car, but you get what you pay for.

is a flow master system an exhaust? or just the muffler? It says flowmaster on the tip...I just want to get rid of that noise, i can barely hear my 2.0l zetec : (

You probably only need to replace the muffler, unless of course the previous owner changed from a 2" in/out to a 3". If it is a 3" in/out, I'm afraid you might be stuck with loud mufflers unless you have a muffler shop make an adapter for you. The muffler rusted off my '63 Corvair, which has a 1 3/4" exhaust. They no-longer make mufflers with 1 3/4 inch in/out so the shop made a 1 3/4" to 2" adapter, installed a muffler for an '84 Mazda RX-7, bent some pipe and put a chrome exhaust tip on it for $90 installed.

Get on the Focus forums. FocalJet is a good one and offer your exhaust for direct swap with a stock exhaust.

Some young kid will jump at the opportunity. Drop both exhausts from the after cat section and it should bolt right up.

If the tip says flowmaster than you have a catback system. Good thing someone went the whole way to change the exhaust tone. Sadly, :hmm: its to loud for you.

Not sure what you wanna do. You can sell that catback on craigslist or ebay for some quick $$ or you can just get a quiet mufflers welded into your current catback and not worry about it anymore
