I have one winter coat that I wear on all cold days. I also have a dress coat that I wear several times a year, on dress occasions of course.

Someone was kidding me on how I always wear the same coat. I don't think it's strange, but I guess other people disagree.

So, how many coats do you own? Do you wear them all? What's the best number?

I own a thick parka type coat, perfect for when its absolutely untolerably cold outside. and i have a leather jacket for the milder days :) it looks better than that bulky coat!

3 total.

1 lambskin leather trench-style coat
1 Structure dress coat
1 Snowboard Jacket (used for actual snowboarding when possible)

The warmest is definitely the snowboard jacket... The dress coat looks good as a sport coat almost......but lambskin leather coat is good because it has a removable liner to adjust as seasons change.

I have six or seven.

I have a heavy suede jacket that I use for nicer occasions.
I have a Columbia Sport Jacket that I use for skiing/winter recreation
I have a thick fleece coat that's for "around town" use
I have a jacket my company awarded me with for being Employee of the Month (very warm!)
I have a Carhartt jacket for outdoor work
I have an Extreme-Cold-Weather Carhartt Arctic coat for outdoor work down to -60 F.

I think that's it.

1 columbia parka, it is the warmest of all. thanks to jcpenny, they reversed the charge on this jacket for no reason.

1 3 quarter length coat from BR.

1 unversity coat from jcrew, it is not thinsulate, so I tend to wear it less.

1 3-in-1 jacket from timberland.

for the five days a year it's cold in CA:

1 parka like jacket that i wear most of the time
1 pea coat that's for dressy occasions
1 inbetween parka/dress coat (it has a hood but it's not out of parka material) for all those inbetween times.

and i hardly EVER wear them since the parking garage is attached to my office and my apartment, and i don't go out for lunch. maybe on weekends... or when i'm actually going out somewhere.

Several spring/fall type jackets, one a bit heavier canvas one with a wool liner that I wear on colder days, and one big heavy down jacket that makes me look like the michelin man. Only need the big one a few times a year.

Oh yea - two ski jackets.

One, a Columbia that can be worn as inner/outer/both. Handled everything that the Canadian winter's been able to throw at me so far.
