Sorry for my ignorance but the technical data they gave didn't help me, since i didnt see the "power consumption: XX watts" listed.

Tube diameter: 3.0 mm Features: High brightness
Tube legnth: 300 mm Long life
Inverter voltage: 620 V High reliability
Current draw: 5.0 mA Vibration proof
Brightness: 29,000 cd/m2
Lifetime: 30,000 hours
Packaging: Retail

We are studying electricity right now in Physics and my teacher made us hop around the room on one foot saying V=IR so that we would remember it. It appears that you remember things well. Maybe you had him in high school. ;)

No,it won't overload the channel, but i've read that using a CCFL connected to a rheobus can be bad. I believe it was because that if you don't supply the inverter with 12V that it could damage the inverter/CCFL.

I had the same question because I wanted to hook them up to a fan bus that was only rated for 6 watts per switch. I ordered a bunch of CCFLs from SVC and Coolerguys. They both use Sunbeam CCFL kits. I called PcToys and spoke with their tech. guy, and he seemed to know the answer without having to look it up. Each 12" bulb will draw 4.7 watts. So, if you have a dual inverter with two bulbs, figure 9.4 watts for both. I did some reaserch to satisfy myself that he gave me the correct answer, and found a few spec's for CCFLs that were in the same ballpark.

Ah sorry, i assumed the current given in the spec sheet was actual drawn current from the power supply. :eek:
.06W did seem a little low :p

P=IV
P=.005A*620V
P=3.1W

Still dun think you can hook it up to a rheobus, you might wanna call SVC about that.

I have a SVC cathode hooked up to a sunbeam rheobus right now, and it works great. Bright as all heck on full, and it can be dimmed (naturally I don't do this much). The great thing is that the sunbeam rheo can be completely shut off on the switches, essentially functioning like an on off switch. It's the only way to fly.

The sunbeam rheobus I got actually had instructions saying now hook up your fan or CCFL etc etc, so Im assuming it safe, and I would only run it at full power, no sense in having it dim =)

thanks for the additional info guys
