How many volts should be sent to a 1) Celeron fan and 2) Voodoo5 5500?

weird question, yes, but before I get my V5 I just wanna make sure I can use it right away. So, I have a Celeron fan slapped on my V3 3k, and I can use that power plug on the voodoo5. I'm pretty sure both things use 5V, but I'd just like some confirmations.

thanks! 🙂

most cpu fans are 12volt, but it shouldn't be a problem plugging it into your v5... it'll just run the fan at a lower voltage.

You mean you have the celeron fan plugged into the Voodoo5?

those fans are I think only 5v, but I´m not sure. The normal case fans are usually 12v

no the Celery fan sits on the V3, and my reason for asking about the voltage, is so I can know if I can just take the power plug is uses, and put it on the V5 when I get it (IF it doesn't already come with a Y-cable.....), or if I have to make a new plug/use the other wire-pair

you dont plug it into the V5, the connector on that card is for input only. So is your fan with a 4 pin connector or 3 pin ?

"you dont plug it into the V5, the connector on that card is for input only. So is your fan with a 4 pin connector or 3 pin ?"

you're supposed to take a free case powerplug and put into the V5, it uses so much power that it would have troubles getting it through the AGP slot......now, I'm sure you know this, but what did you mean?

The fan has a home-made 4-pin thingy (one of those that go to your HDD, Drives and such), although there's only 2 pins in it (and I'm trying to find out if these are 5 or 12V, by telling you that it goes to a Celeron fan, which runs as it's supposed to)

ahh.. now I get you, well then.. it should say on the sticker on the fan. I found here a 12v fan for a Pentium and it has a two pin connector, think its 4x4cm. So its probably 12v
