How many use Tivo?

My family is thinking about buying it. Mom wants it the most, she says she missed important programs on TLC, like those baby shows in the morning. It is kinda expensive, and that 12.95/month fee isn't helping much either. I was looking at Ebay, and many people are selling their Tivos with the lifetime subscription. Good idea to buy that or no?

I use a first generation ReplayTV 3060 > TIVO

No monthly fees rules but the company which runs ReplayTV is in trouble.

replaytv is the best.
people tell you that replay tv is in danger of losing its buisness.
why would ANYONE throw away the main source of revinue, its a HUGE buisness oppirtunity.

I don't have Tivo, but I use the program that came with my ATI AIW 8500DV to function like a tivo 😀

My roomate used to have a tivo. It was one of the best investments he ever made, I loved it. I wish he hadn't taken it with him when he moved out.

Tivo rocks.

The problem with the 'lifetime subscription' is that it is only good for the life of the unit. Sucks when/if you want to upgrade to a newer unit later down the line.

You may want to check your local cable company. Time Warner Cable in some areas offers a Tivo like box for $5/month. The menus are no where near as nice as Tivo and it doesn't have stuff like Wishlists and such but if you don't care about stuff like that, it ain't a bad deal.

We got the ReplayTV since it has the broadband connection, and doesnt have to have a phone line.

I hope they stay solvent 🙂

I have a first generation Tivo with a bigger hdd that I bought off the FS/T forum last year. I didn't go for the lifetime subscription as I plan to upgrade to a unit that will record one channel while watching another.

Replay is alot better than Tivo... for 2 simple reasons Commercial Advance and the ability to save your Videos to your computer plus the ability to send your friends shows if they forgot to record one or get your friends to send you stuff when you forget to record....
