I see no option for zero. I've had them before...I'm sure I have one somewhere, but for the life of me I have no idea where it would be or what it would look like.

so I'm going with none.

Almost as many as hard drives, of which I have 13 sitting in the closet. About half are IDE and I don't know how to dispose of any of them. Recycling ain't big here.

Only four. They all still work. The 32 GB is my second back-up, one 16 GB was my main horse at work. I also have two 4 GB that used to be well used at work until I got the 16 GB. Work had a shitty network server file size limit...

way too many, if they made a good sized metal one with a strong key hole ring and was retractable I'd only need one.

I have no idea why this is so hard, I have a ton with tiny holes for lanyards, one's made of cheap plastics with a key ring hole which end up breaking. I dozen or so where I've lost the key caps.

Strong key ring hole and retractable with no need for the usb caps and a decent size.

Eight, ten maybe. I just bought another 3-pack of these 4GB from Verbatim, which are nice for holding OS installers. Not too small and they have a large flat side that takes a label.

The only one I use regularly is the Kingston SE9 32GB on my key ring. Perfect size that sits like a key without needing another split-ring, and the metal housing means it won't break and be lost.

I didn't see your post before posting mine above. :)

I agree with you completely except for the need for either a retractable or a cap. I've been carrying USB keys around for more than a decade without either and have never had a problem. I love the Kingston SE9.

I voted 1, because there's only 1 that I actively know where it is.

I own others, I might even have some at work. Typically I end up lending them to people and never get them back, I treat them kind of like floppies and they're mostly just to move files around and not to store them permanently. If I need to get a big file to someone physically I'll just put it on a USB stick and give it to them. Come to think of it, I wish my church would go that route instead of burning audio CDs when people want messages. Can probably buy small ones in bulk for super cheap too and they would hold several sermons and it would be 10x faster than waiting for a CD to burn.

Whenever I make an online order somewhere for something small and I don't want to pay shipping for just that one item I sometimes throw in a couple USB sticks.

A bunch here, just two I use at all really.

One myself actually, the wife uses one of my old ones for backups on her computer.

I like the metal keyring ones, this my little 32Gb guy I use just for moving things around awhile.

I actually have it on a keyring flashlight so can plug it in and out i the dark in some rooms, and not lose the little thing.

On subject of flash drives I'm suddenly tempted to buy a couple since NCIX has free shipping right now. Might buy like 10 of these to have on hand:

I don't think it's a high end brand name but at that price can't go wrong. 8GB is a nice size, you can put pretty much any Linux distro on there, a movie or two, lot of pictures, or any data you might want to just give to someone.

I was just thinking about all the USB sticks I have and how I'm running out of room on all of them and thought I should buy another. LOL! What I should do is consolidate everything to one of the partitions I have on my 1 TB drive. But I own now 4 USB sticks. The largest is two of them of 16 GB. I should see about a 128 GB stick.

10 from sizes 64megs to 16gigs. (64meg is dos bootup). I fill them up with ghost/clonezilla images from various desktops and laptops over the years.

5- 32gig

the 32 gig ones were on clearance for $4 at staples or office depot last year.
grabbed every single one.

irony: 4 of them are still in the package a year later.

I have 6 or 8 of them. Smallest is a 128mb one, biggest is a 16gb. Most are 4gb, and I have one 2gb and one 8gb.

That looks like a bottle opener. Never seen one like that.

I thought this was pretty cool. I finally hooked the Blu-ray player up and it has a USB port. I copied Die Hard to the USB stick and played it on the LCD. That was neat! The LCD also has a USB port, but I didn't see an option to play movies in the TV. Maybe I'm missing something.

At least 7 or 8.

Finally got around to using USB3 versions. It was taking forever to copy stuff on USB2. I'll never buy another USB2 drive again.

Same here! Except about four of mine still have data on them that I haven't consolidated elsewhere. Been meaning to do that for a looooong time now. lol

Got a old mp3 that works well as a usb drive, well outside of its 5mbps top speed transfer its alright. Need to invest in a couple usb 3 drives, just way to many choices i guess lol.

I've 3, an old 1GB one that is too damn slow, a fast 4GB one for Linux, and a so-so 8GB one.

My line of SD cards, however, is much more impressive, ranging from a standard sized 16MB (still works) to my 32GB MicroSD, and a very many in between.
