I just got a DVD-R (RW) based TV recorder, and I want to know how many times I can expect to record on a single RW disk and reformat before it goes bad?

Are we talking 2-3 times or is it more like 20-30?

I don't remember the exact number, but it must be over a hundred.
I have DVD-RW disks that i have erased probably 50 times in the past 3 or 4 months.

Most DVD-RWs say right on the packaging they can be recorded either "hundreds of times" or "up to 1000 times".

well from experiance with cd-rw, id say u would be able to get to 50 with good brand ones, and the cheapos will start failing after like 20.

With dvd-rw, i have had 2 discs which i have re-recorded something in excess of 30 times and they are still going strong, like halfadder said with good branded ones the dvds prolly will die off physical damage before it wears out.
