How many stars do you give the movie Patton?

I give it *****, but after reading that speech, I'd like another option for ******

:)

I can't even quote the best parts w/o hacking it to pieces for the forums, so go read it yourself!

Best War/Military movie ever! In my opinion, the Greatest General and Military Mind of the Century.

My now deceased Uncle served with the 3rd Army, and Patton in WWII. He said Patton was just like he was portrayed in the movie, and sometimes meaner.

That guy was hard core. He was really chomping at the bit to roll on to Moscow. Wonder how history would have turned out if we let him?

That is one hell of an awesome speech.

My grandpa actually met Patton during the war. He heard Patton was going to be in the area they were fighting in, so he rounded up a big case of whatever booze was Patton's favorite (I don't remember the name), and gave it to Patton when he landed in his little plane.

WTF?

I'll certainly give General Patton five stars, but the movie... meh. Just watched it for the first time a few weeks ago. Compare that to a more current movie, like "Full Metal Jacket", "Apocalypse Now", "Saving Private Ryan", or "Platoon". Just couldn't get into it much...

I like "The Dirty Dozen" and "Bridge on the River Kwai" too. (I know...note quite the same...but the right era. :) )

I prefer TDD and BRK as well. Those are both GREAT films. I was required to watch Bridge on the River Kwai in film school. I just saw The Dirty Dozen for the first time about 6 months ago.

Yeah, but this is based on a real story and a real person.

Patton kicks ass.
Tora Tora Tora kicks ass.
The Dirty Dozen Kirks ass.
Bridge over the River Kwai kicks ass.

Also, not at all historicly accurate in any way shape or form, Kelly's Hero's and Where Eagles Dare kick ass too.

Are you supposed to weight your rating based on this? As interesting as the story is, the movie was a snooze far too often. Great documentary, but not something I'd ever want to sit through again.

One of my favorite movies a must have for my DVD collection. Patton was arrogant and a little off his rocker sometimes but I still respect him as a leader.

Also, another must-see WWII movie that kicks major a$$ is A Bridge Too Far.
If you liked Patton then watch it as well.

All of the movies mentioned here would get the same rating from me though.
