Stop being ridiculous.

Spiderman and Superman can't have a kid, they are both men. Now if it was Supergirl I would have to think about the answer.

duh! that wouldn't work either. they are from different universes!

I actually enjoy these kinds of threads. :)

The Romans wouldn't be as easy to defeat as some of you are pretending. Don't forget that they did have artillery (catapults and the like), so a bombardment followed by a couple waves of cavalry could overrun the SEAL's position. Sure, the SEALs would inflict heavy damage and casualties and might even come out on top, but with an ample bombardment from artillery and archers with waves of cavalry coming in, the SEALs might have trouble.

They would construct a series of breathing apparatus with kelp. They will be able to trap certain amounts of oxygen. It's not gonna be days at a time. An hour? Hour forty-five? No problem. That will give them enough time to figure out where you live, go back to the sea, get some more oxygen, and stalk you. You just lost at your own game. You're outgunned and out-manned.

Did that go the way you thought it was gonna go? Nope.

Love that part.

Another stupid "what if" kind of thread...

The obvious answer is two..if they're properly equipped. All they have to do is call in the air strikes and nuclear strikes.../roman empire.

but the ruination of the lands that ultimately end up supporting the parents of the seal 6 teams in the future creates a massive time paradox! what if those parents never gave birth to the seals! ZOmG!

guns versus swords. Yeah, this is gonna end well....

let's make a level playing field and remove any guns and modern explosives. Everyone uses Roman weapons.

Who wins now? Seals are toast.

Obviously there would be a wizard helping them since they magically have infinite ammo, food, and medicine... What about TP? Why would they not be allowed infinite TP? I think any wizard that could make ammo and food appear out of thin air could also conjur up some TP.

I think you phrased the question wrong.

How many Roman Empires would it take to defeat Seal Team 6?

FTFY

It depends a lot on the scenario. Where are they? what is the mission? If you dropped a 6 man squad into Rome w/o anyone knowing and tasked them to kill the Emperor, I think they would succeed. If you dropped a 30 man team in Britain and told them to fight down to Rome, I don't think they would make it.
If SF is fighting pitched battles against armies, it's not doing it's job right. That's what the rest of the Army is for.

Who is flying the airplanes or manning the nuclear weapon launchers?

2.5 million romans? I'm going to say 2500 SEALs. They can each kill 1000.

It's 1944 in Normandy, and you can field all the troops that were historically sent, or two Jedi. Which would you choose?

Of course you send the troops that were there. You know it works.

Assume the universe isn't strictly deterministic. Things probably will happen the way they did, but won't necessarily.

If you don't like that, consider all the Allied troops that died in that invasion, troops that wouldn't have died if you sent the Jedis.

I don't think that they're tested the lightsaber's effectiveness against machine gun rounds and flak. I'm going with the ground forces.

How are the Romans supposed to get their catapults and the like in range? I'd think that the Seals would have much better range with modern weapons.
