I'm talking about proper pushups. Arms straight, hands level to shoulders, bend arms to 90 degrees then return.

I struggle for 30, 40 on a good day. I try to do a few more every night.

What's your breathing technique? Inhale going down, exhale comming up?

10 before I realize I'm already pretty skinny, a lot of people don't have that benefit, I should enjoy it while I can.

That's pretty much my technique. I generally take it all the way down too, to where my chest will hit the ground, then start pushing up, and I try to move somewhat slowly, so it takes more effort.

I can do maybe 25 in one go. I start struggling around 15-17 in one go.

edit: I'm also a fatarse. I weigh in at 215lbs, and have quite the gut. But I work out relativly regularly, and I'm trying to change that.

i can push out about 20-30 in one set.

I'm trying to get that up to around 50.

I exhale going up, inhale going down.

*EDIT* I also like doing Hindu pushups and pylometric pushups. I can't do very many of either of them yet

Well, usually the question is 'how many can you do in a minute'. I can go on for an indefinite amount of time, only after around 45 or so I'll get REALLY slow. I think I'd collapse at ~75-80 or so.

Right now I can do about 50. When I'm actually in shape, I can do around 100 (regulation, US Army-approved pushups).

whats with ATOT obsession with comparing themselves to others? "How many xyz do you have/can you do/have you done"

if you seek some sort of validation from members of this board you are a sad sad individual.

In high school, I use to be able to get all the way on the ground & back up 100+ times during the 5 minutes we had. Now, probably 60. If you do them every day, it becomes easier & easier, regardless of out of shape you seem.

whats the purpose of this thread if you arent trying to validate what you percieve as an achievement against the others here?

I was wondering what technique others used. I figured I might as well ask a question that gets a lot of replies while I'm at it.

yes, sir

back in HS I did 48 in a minute. I'd venture a guess to say I could do around 70+ at one time, but i really have no idea. Pushups are pretty pointless

75 in a row, chest down to touch a tennis ball on the floor.

If your very athletic you can do a push up and clap behind your back :) and not eat floor.. Or rep out one arm push ups with your feet square and not spread eagle as thats the easier way and your only really dipping your shoulder down.

If I feel like giving myself a difficult warmup, I'll do ~200 pushups in under 20 minutes. But, that is 100 pushups with my hands touching each other (triceps burn) and 100 pushups with my hands wide apart (pecs burn). Neither of which is what you asked for.

I could go faster, I guess, but I've kept pushups as a warmup.
