<---- has it under 20 always. When i play lineage2, or have it running in the background, i must limit to 16 or less. That game is a resource hog
 
37, I have a lot of resident programs such as a firewall, the bloatware that comes with an Audigy 2 card (but which tbh i kind of like, beats wmp), temperature monitor, etc. I think people answering in single-digits are thinking running applications, not processes.

yea its impossiable, if my comp is idle there are 34 running

if i close everything like trillian norton my firewall... i still have over 20 running

and ive dissabled services as well
