I dont floss. It's always a huge pain in the ass to get the floss between my teeth - really hard, and when I do manage to get it in, I cut my gums up badly.

If you floss regularly, your gums stop being sensitive to floss. If I go a few months without flossing (I did for a while) when I start back up, they get cut up, but after two days of flossing, I'm fine again.

I use one of those reach flossers, so I use one of those flosser heads.

You shouldn't need more than one piece of floss because you should be winding it around your fingers and keep unwinding from one hand to the other as you work. You get fresh floss every couple of teeth.

I don't know what you mean by pieces. I use a long run and as I go down my teeth I unroll 1 hand and roll the other so that I keep moving down the floss to prevent it from breaking. The reason I have to do this is because I floss w/ unwaxed, which is the hardest to floss w/ and easiest to break.

Start with a good cleaning at the dentist, so that the plaque and calcium are off your teeth and won't shred the floss, then use <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.glidefloss.com/
">Glide Dental Floss</a> That stuff is easy to get between teeth and doesn't get shredded up as you work. After flossing for a few weeks, you won't have bleeding gums anymore.

Of course, if you like the idea of losing your teeth one by one and losing bone in your jaw, by all means, don't floss. Dentures are really attractive.

i actually use J&J woven floss. it seems to gather up the gunk better and pull it out, and i don't really have a problem with breakage. though i can imagine people with really tight contacts aren't going to be able to get woven floss between their teeth easily.

I've never heard of anyone using more than one. Plus, I've never heard of it breaking. But then, I use quality floss. Another vote for Glide floss. Since my teeth are close together, I can't use any other floss without ripping my gums to bits (even with near daily flossing for well over a year).
