How many people work full time and go to school full time?

For some reason my parents don't think I'm going to be able to do this.

I start a new job tomorrow doing phone support for a local ISP. The hours will be 2-11 five days a week. They keep questioning me because I'm also in school and think I should worry more about graduating instead of working. However, for the last 6 years (high school and college) I have gone to school full time and worked about 30 hours a week without any real problems. I can understand their position about graduating being important, but I have been looking for a better job for well over a year (I did work in a hellhole of a restaurant) so when this opportunity presented itself I had to take it.

I've tried to explain this to them, many many times, but it's like talking to a wall. I don't know why they are so concerned, I'm paying for college.

It's things like this that make me hate it when they ask me questions.

I have worked up to 36 hours per week but I'm not gonna work as much this semester if I can help it.

I'm working two jobs this summer so I don't have to do that.

I'll only have to work part time during the school year.

I'm taking 18 credit hours at college, and working 20-30 hours/week (31 this week), in addition to my Tuesday night Civil Air Patrol meeting..

My college doesn't allow me to work as a first-year, which I guess is reasonable given the amt of work they give us every night. It's kind of scary living entirely on loans for the first time, though.

I wish my job would be concerned about me finishing school. My supervisor 'wormed' his way out of seeing if I could take time off (1 hour) to go to school.

But I avg. 41 hrs. a week and the first time this fall I'm doing only 8 hours, before was 4 hours for school.

I did it for two years.
Welding in a factory and fulltime school.
Graduation never looked so good. My ass was dragging by the time it was over.

I've got a lot of respect for people who can do that. School fulltime (at 20 credits per semester) is hard enough for me. I've got some friends who do it and they say its all about time management...

I did FT school and FT work for a year ... they were pretty lenient tho ... so I'm not sure if I even put in 40 ... but it was ft/ft ... :D

As long as you're dedicated enough to FINISH. Then WTF ... go for it!
