How many people remember back in the good ol' 1990s the search provided Lycos.com? I got my first e-mail with them and just recently visited their webpage. Do you still use the site?

Nope, strong and well, and their wiki suggests that they are still reasonably popular. I checked out their email system recently, but gmail > lycos any day of the week.

They got bought out by Telefonica and then later Daum in Korea. I owned stock in Lycos during the dotcom bubble. One of the few stocks I got out with a nice profit before the bubble popped.

Dude... You should switch to myway.com, it has the exact same content as Excite (they're owned by the same company) but with less ads.

I wish that iGoogle would finally get some decent TV listings, so I could finally stop using that site!

It redirected to Yahoo lol. Altavista RIP

I never really used Lycos. Before Google I used Yahoo, Webcrawler (when it was owned by AOL, but it was actually one of the best search engines :Q ), maybe a little Altavista (and I still use their Babelfish translator whenever I need something translated).

I remember those Lycos commercials where the dog would go find whatever you were searching for.

I remember when some college students decided to catalog the internet. They called it Yahoo.

Anybody remember using Archie and Gopher?
