What are your experiences with the games you play? What OS are you using and what res do you play? I'm kinda wanting some new toys to play with, so i thought about picking up 2 3870s just to see how it fares. I currently have an 8800GTX, and i know it will prolly do better than those 2.

Oh yeah, my MB is the P5K-E, will the second slot running at 4x present a bottleneck?

Heh, thats pretty much the same conclusion I have pre-drawn (having dealt with SLI in the past). I just wasn't sure if it would be worthwhile to play around with since I haven't tried Crossfire before.

Right now I have two 3870.... and play around 1680x1050.... I have to be honest... the crossfire and so on.. give me some strange bugs in some games... like flashing textures.. or missing ones....

and is faster in some games.. like Unreal Tournament III, Guild Wars, Sins of a Solar Empire... Medieval II which is kinda my favorite strategy game.. yes it is.. sins of solar... isnt better.... doesnt show a lot of advantage with crossfire...

I have found nothing except Bioshock which runs better with 2 3870X2s. The FPS might be slightly higher sometimes, but in most games, I actually see a benefit by pulling one of the cards completely out of my PC. I'm pretty pissed right now. I know that drivers are gradually improving these problems, and there are probably tweaks I could use to improve the situation, but I don't have time for that kind of maintenance. If you spend 900 on a graphics solution, you shouldn't have to hack every game in order to make it run stably. In fact, I had the same frustration when I first ran X1900XTs in Crossfire, which was in my opinion, probably the best single ATi card in the last 5 years. Whether it's the nature of multiple card solutions or just an ATi problem, I'm leaning toward going single in the future.

Of course that means I'll be able to choose between ATi or nVidia every time I upgrade which is awesome;)

alienbabeltech.com
2900xt + oc'd 2900Pro

tickled pink .. gives me "ultra" performance at 16x10 for cheap

minimal "issues"

would recommend it for a cheap upgrade although it is not "ideal" and i am looking for my next single GPU upgrade

I have the P5K with a pair of 3870's on a quad core system, it runs good and actually works better with my 3dsMAX and AutoCAD software... not (nearly) as fast as my 8800 GTS or 9800 GX2 for games tho.

No issues here and I have them both clocked up t0 820/1326 -- idle at 49 degrees, never really gets hot or even too loud. I just ordered a 3870x2 card, lets see how the x3 fares
