to transfer into a local community college to increase GPA in hopes of getting into another college which will allow a completely seperate career path??

im contemplating my future with Purdue... dropping it, coming home and going local for a year to increase GPA at a smaller school and then transferring into OSU for pre-law maybe. is this common, or anyone on here done it? what all were the issues you faced, the things you had to overcome etc.

That's exactly what I did. Different reasons, but same thing. I'm about to start applying to 4 year institutions once again.

I'm currently in the process of something similar.

I transfered from UMD to my CC (majored in CS at UMD). The reason was because it was so damn expensive, and they required you to take tons of General Education courses. Now that I've completed almost all of the Gen Ed requirements, I've reapplied at UMD (back in), but I'm also applying to Boston University as a possible Economics major. GPA at UMD was a 2.8, GPA at CC is a 4.0.

If you're going to do it, do it before you get too far and spend an assload of money on something that you can't even claim on a resume.

After my college experiences, if I had to do it over, I'd take a year off from school in between high school and college.

I made the mistake of letting my parents talk me into going for a 4 year degree that I didn't want, did poorly, changed colleges and majors and did not transfer anything.

I didn't, but my wife did. Dropped from Purdue, got an associates at Ivy Tech and now works a near minimum wage job while she tries to figure out what she wants to do. Have looked at schools for her to apply to, but very few in our area are willing to accept any of her credits from Ivy Tech.

Stay at Purdue and change your major. Purdue is a good school, which means a lot more than a good GPA. Any school you want to go to will know you went to a CC to increase your GPA.

i did that, but for personal reasons rather than GPA.

I transfered back into a respected 4-year (no problem with the transfer, as it is much easier to transfer into almost any school than get in from high school), and I will finish my last quarter in two weeks! This is the sixth college I have attended, but my degree will read only the university from which I'm graduating.

Pre-Law is not a major. Any major (except criminology) is acceptable to law schools. Just change your major at Purdue. If you need to improve your GPA, just change to an easier major.

edit: only transfer to a nicer school, unless it's a money issue.

How did you afford a 2007 Tahoe if you are going to Purdue full time?

You are one heck of a lucky kid if that was a gift from Mom + Dad.

So switch.

The first two years of the program you are in suck... so if you can stick it out I would do so.
Honestly I knew more on my own than pretty much anything I ever learned at Purdue save for two classes or so.. I just used the name to get myself a sweet job and to find connections.

I doubt you'll find happiness elsewhere.. unless you really just hate computers and want to do something else.

im beginning to hate how expensive everything is, how im learning minimal, how its not teaching me anything new, how 280 is a repeat of 180 (i know u didnt have 180), how its not interesting me at all.
