I'm getting a new apartment next semester and im thinking i may just bring up my spare computer rather than buying a router and get this to put in it. Have any of you done this or is there another way to create a pc-wireless-router

i personally don't do it just because of the heat factor. Computer generates a lot more heat then a little router.

Otherwise, I use a computer with two nics. One in, and one out to an WAP.

Wait a minute, this is the wrong forum!

ClarkConnect, pfsense, m0n0wal...take your pick. ClarkConnect is supposed to be extremely user-friendly, just make sure your spare machine meets the minimum specs. Aside from the added complexity that a dedicated PC brings in over a small store-bought router, the only real issue is that it will use much more power on a daily basis than a small router.

Also just toss a Wireless Access Point on your network rather than a PCI card. Much less hassle and about the same price. There's a D-Link with 5-star reviews on the egg.
