I only use it in downloading netcasts or podcasts (or whatever the socially appropriate name is now). Other than that, no.

I have an impression of what I THINK it is. Can you verify?

RSS is something like the content of the sites can be sent outside of the web (like a news/blog entry)... so it can be received directly to your MS Outlook.

From Outlook, you can view snippets of all these sites' new content (RSS feeds) without having to visit each one of them.

Am I right?

"Push" tech failed in browsers and it's not much better in this format either.

I use it for podcasts, mainly, but also to keep up with new content on a variety of different websites using Firefox's "Bookmarks Toolbar" feature. Very handy.

Like most others, the only thing I find RSS useful for is keeping track of podcasts.

Meh. I used to have RSS for ESPN news stories, but then I realized that I'd rather just go to ESPN and see what's new.

I would use it if I could find a good OS X reader. Most of them want to run in the Dashboard... Dashboard is useless to me. I actually prefer Vista's sidebar and had toyed with keeping it running inside OS X through Fusion but it was just ugly because of no Aero. Any good OS X RSS readers that have "Always on Top" options?
