I currently don't, and I've been thinking about going out and picking up an APC UPS with AVR because, quite frankly, I think the power down here in southern Florida is kinda shitty. Goes out/flickers nicely about once a month, and during a lightning storm it's anybodies game. So my question is, do you?

Yep.

Don't really need it anymore since I moved out of the boonies where the power wasn't very reliable, but it came in handy the one time I was playing TF2 while it was storming and the power went out and I was able to keep on playing.

Does attempting to buy a UPS through a black friday hot deal (but failing since the person in front got the last one) and instead asking for it for this Christmas count? I'd like a poll option for that. ;)

No.

I was looking into it before but the cost for one with AVR made it pretty pointless. I don't have problems here with the power so meh, I just stick with surge protectors.

Yes. The battery is old, and even new it was probably a bit underpowered for my system. It's mainly just to protect against momentary outages, all it can hold is a minute or two of charge.

I bought a UPS a few years ago but it died after a while and I never bothered replacing it.

I just have everything plugged into surge protectors.

Yep. An APC model about the size of an alternator. It has the automatic shutdown software.

Absolutely.

I run 4 different units for various peripherals/TV and a seperate double conversion/online unit for my server and computer.

This electronic stuff is just too pricey to take a chance on the local utilities not having a power glitch.

I have two.

One just for my "server" which is just my Mac Pro and one just for my Networking gear so stuff stays up for a quick outage.

But that Mac Pro draws a hell of a lot of juice it seems cause it doesn't hold very long on it.

Most of my UPS' don't have AVR's. I used to have an APC RS model that had an AVR and replaced it with a larger non-AVR model. Either works fine where i live.

I have a UPS for the computers, network gear, one TV, garage door openers and now our christmas tree (i didn't have extra power strips).

For longer power outages, there's also a generator on stand by. :D --- never had to use it though.

Battery backup does not have much use anymore now that we have software applications that automatically save our work every few minutes. Automatic Voltage Regulation is necessary.

Here is a reliable, low cost option for AVR at $25 + shipping. This makes a great gift that I gave to my family last year at Christmas. I tend to purchase about 4/year when NewEgg offers free shipping for them.

OPTI-UPS SS1200 Voltage Regulator

Yep, although my power hasn't gone out in ages. I mostly have it to protect against voltage changes. Also have one for my tv/entertainment center.

Is AVR the same as line conditioning ?? I have all of my PCs on UPS units. Ended up replacing batteries on 2 units last year as I hate to toss it out just because of batteries.

Getting batteries locally for a good price is essential to the deal tho.
