I was driving the I5 to go to work this morning, and started thinking about the possibility of getting some terminal illness. As I was thinking about that I wondered if i had really lived my life to it's fullest. Have I really stopped to smell the flowers, have I spent enough time with my daughters and my wife, etc. I guess I would change those two things and I'm sure there are more i'd like to change.

What would you do?

That's a nice thought and all, but the world would just slam to a stop if we all lived each day like it's our last. Who would go to work? I sure as heck wouldn't.

Exactly.

I live life to where on any given day if it happens to be my last, I have lived my life to the fullest extent I could. I don't live "like each day is my last", I live so when my "last day" comes up I have enjoyed life as best as I could with minimal regrets. I have made mistakes and I will make more. I view them as lessons to not repeat them again, but on the whole if I died today there is not much I wish I had/not done. A lot of the remaining things is stuff I cannot due until later in life, so for my age I could look back seeing I lived a great life.

If I lived everyday like it was my last... I wouldn't be working in this shithole 5 days a week throughout the years.

I understand that thinking. yes, you have to work, and all, and you would rather be doing something completely different, but do you take the time to see the little things? take a moment to see the sunrise or sunset, stare at a full moon on a cloudless night, read a bedtime story to your kids or maybe show them something brand new. I'm just saying do you take time to appreciate the little things we always take for granted?

If you could change something what would you change to make it feel like you're actually living as opposed to just being here and going through the motions of life?

The world doesn't have to stop to appreciate being in it. right?

I live life one day at a time. I don't worry about tomorrow and I don't dwell on what happened yesterday. I would have no regrets if today was my last day on this rock.

Can you give some examples of your daily life? Things that you would consider as seting you apart from what would be considered not living each day as your last? Is it to you a solely psychological or mental attitude or do you go out of your way with a gesture?

I'm living my life backwards. It seems the older I get the more immature I become, or maybe I'm just getting senile.
