How many of you knew Windows XP can make DOS bootdisks?

Just curious... I found out today WinXP is capable of making DOS bootdisks right out of the box. Pretty cool. I have absolutely no use for Win9X anymore.

Flashing bioses ain't a problem no more. Minor caveat - it can't read NTFS partitions. :( Oh well...

My-Computer->Right Click Floppy Drive->Format...->Select the "Make MS-DOS boot diskette" option. :)

Why is it that when I asked how to make dos boot disks for an XP only machine months ago everybody told me to go to bootdisk.com? Heh. Oh well.

Everyone probably assumed you wanted to be able to use the boot disk to load drivers to support a CD drive the way a Win98 boot disk will so that you could run setup from there. The boot disk produced by WinXP won't do that -- unless you manually place the driver file and MSCDEX.EXE and add the appropriate lines to the CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT files. Easier to just go to bootdisk.com. Of course it's even easier than that to boot from the CD in the first place, assuming the system supports it.

Yeah, I knew. I got all happy when I first found out because I finally didn't have to go download boot disk images. :)
