How many of you have turned down a job offer?

Pretty straightforward question, where I assume the majority of people have turned down a full-time job. However, I know quite a few people that have accepted the first job offered to them whenever they have gone on job interviews.

I think there's a part of most people that worries about giving up a sure thing offer in hopes of getting something better.

i didn't exactly turn it down, but negotiations ended because they wouldn't give me enough money

other than that... no... i've only applied to jobs that i've wanted, so i think that reduces the need to turn down offers

I may accept one soon though, because I'm considering getting out of the job I have now.

The extra $12/hr was not worth the commute from LV to Phoenix and cover the extra coxt of living in AZ.

Also the constraints on accepting the position was rough in setting up the logistics at the time.

I did when I got 2 job offers at the same time. The one with the company I'm with now and one with Easton. Easton wanted to pay me $8.75/hr working 3pm-11pm as the chemist in charge of maintaining their aluminum etching bins.

I have a hard time thinking I would turn one down... but I've only worked 2 full time jobs - one accepted before I finished school and had no other offers at the time... did that for 3 months and got a job offer from a big company so I took that one - easy decision.

I was interviewing with two companies at the same time. The one I was sort of interested in offered me a job first. I turned around and told the other company (Were I really wanted to work) that I had gotten the offer from the other firm. They offered me the job righ there.

An interview goes two ways. I've turned down at least half the jobs i've interviewed for.

Yes, because I already had a job and my employer made a lucrative offer to stay. In other cases, if you're offered a job ask them how long they'll need to get an answer, and if you have other possible job offers coming hold out and see what happens. Otherwise you might as well get things going.

I was nice to the company that I declined and in fact asked them 1.5 years later if they still had an opening, which they did, and which I took.

I applied for a job months before I joined the military, but never heard back from them. About a month before I was due to ship out, they called me back, so I told them I wasn't really looking any more. Many times I wish I'd taken that job instead of going into the military; it was 1997 and I was in Austin--coulda cashed in on the dot-com bubble.

I've turned down a job before because the benefits didn't come close to the job I had at the time and I would have been the only person in the office under the age of 40 (I was 25). The job searching agency that was 'representing' me dropped me after that.

Turned down a job as a morning news producer just before graduation. I thought "wake up at 2-3am every morning, fvck that!".
