How many of you have ever cried during a movie?

People come with these things we like to call "emotions".

Although I've never cried during a movie, I know of a few friends that have. In their situation, they could relate to the movie (have lost someone suddenly, etc.) and it triggered the memory of the incident/death/etc, resulting in the crying of a river.

I've never cried while watching one, but I have felt strong emotions caused by films.

I can understand not being able to relate to those who cry, but I can't figure out when people call them pathetic.

I remember it was right after 9/11 and our school had an assembly where we went outside and had a moment of silence crowded around the flagpole with the stars and stripes at half-mast. Some girls started crying and people were saying they were being ridiculous, which I was kinda just surprised at them being so insensitive.

Some people are very empathetic and even if they've never actually been in the same situation, they can relate to what they see in the movie and this can make them feel as though they are feeling the same as the people in the film would.

I actually enjoy crying at movies and when I read - it makes me feel vulnerable. I think we go through so much of our lives with a belief that we're invulnerable and strong emotional responses help us restore our humanity - an expression of weakness and succeptibility.

I've cried hapy tears when something turns on great. But I'm very emptional about those sorts of things. I tear up sometimes watching Extreme Makover Home Edition and things like that.

i have. No matter how many times i see Steel Magnolias, i still cry every time. There are a few more that made me get teary, but only a few really made me sob. To me, that is a sign of a great movie.

OP, how old are you? And yes I have cried before. I can remember crying during Braveheart and Saving Private Ryan, other movies left me sadden but even as a kid I don't remember crying.

As much as a hard ass as I am, there have been a few movies that made me bawl like a baby.

so yes.

It works by triggering a memory or emotion that you haven't felt or remembered in a long time as you relate to the characters.

I cried a little when the Terminator told John that he had to also be destroyed and did so by lowering himself into the molten steel.

The thumbs up sign did me in.

🙁

Yes, I have.

I will not say which movie it was for fear of the ridicule that will immediately spew forth in my direction.
