too hot? How so? If you're running at stock speeds it should be fine. Also, if it gets too hot, it automatically downclocks by 50%

what's wrong with the temps? It's not like it's going to burn the cpu or something...

how much? a couple bucks? You don't have to leave the system running extra, just let SETI run when you aren't doing anything cpu intensive

Seti = Worthless IMO. I wont waste my clock cycles. Why?
I have 2 cell phones, 5 email addresses, a current mailing address plus my fathers mailing address. If aleins want to get ahold of me they should have NO problems whatsoever. Now, cancer and drug research? I'll chip in some clock cycles. Always willing to help save the world or whatever. But finding aliens? Please. If they wanna get ahold of me it'll be NO problem for them.

No.
I have in the past, but...3 months ago my mobo friend. Then a month later the replacement fried. So, its been about 1.5 months since my last format. By that time I was so pissed at loading everything up I went barebones. I instaled only what I need for day to day use. Then, I simply installed stuff as the need came around. So, currently no DC projects running but I'll get one up soon now that I think about it. Probably a cancer or drug research project. Like I said, I dont mind helping with these projects, but I'll help with one that actually has some worth to it in terms of day to day life. Finding Life on Timbucktu in the Klingon galaxy really isnt going to save old Helga with breast cancer ya know?

No, I don't with a reason such as you need the speed for something else

All DC projects run at idle priority.

Which means that if ANYTHING else need the CPU power, then it will have it. I can almost guarantee that I could install a DC project on your PC, and you won't be able to tell that it's there :)

If you're not interested in Seti@home (and I know that some of you don't feel it is worth it for whatever reason) then please check out the Distributed Computing forum at all the other projects there are available :)

I have a lowly Duron 850 @ 1GHz on a IWill KK266-RAID with 384mb PC133 @ 2-2-2.

And no, I don't do distributed.
