how many of you are ok with UPS/fedex leaving packages at your front door?

i'm never home when they're delivering, so i sign the little tag to authorize them leaving it at the door, never even thinking about how safe it is sitting at my doorstep for half a day.

how's your luck been with that?

ever have a dishonest delivery guy just claim the package was delivered? or have a neighbor or passerby steal it?
i guess you would never find out who did it...

well, I live in a condon complex and I know everyone here so they usually sign for me, or grab the package.

Sometimes fedex leaves the packages outside in plain view, its not mine, but I will bring it inside so its not taken....

never had anything stolen.

I'm never had an issue in the past, but now that I live in a neighborhood it kind of worries me.

Every now and then no one is home to take the package so they leave it by the front door; never had anything stolen. Just came home from work yesterday and I had a box sitting out for me.

I don't trust anyone in my building or even my apartment complex office. I have everything sent to my office.

Never had one stolen but a neighbor's son did try.
Fed Ex left a package with my neighbor. They left a note on my door saying they did.
I went to the neighbors and asked for the package. The kid (20ish) said they didn't get it. I showed him the note and he "found" it.

For that reason I avoid FedEx, they tend to leave packages by my door even when I don't request for that. Had a package stolen once that way. My UPS guy is awesome, he usually sets a time where he'll wait by the truck for people who missed package to come pick up(vs picking it up at the station).

I don't really mind too much, but I do mind when I am home and they don't even knock or ring the doorbell. I leave for work the next day and see a package that was left on my doorstep all night. And sometimes they deliver really late, like 8-9pm.

I have packages left at the door all the time. I dont have to worry about that kind of thing in my area.

I once worked with this guy who lived in a rough part of Baltimore apparently. He would always have packages sent to the office because he knew they'd get stolen if they were left at his door.

I thought UPS had a strict policy forbidding them leaving packages at a "multi-dwelling" complex?

we lived in a condo (apartment style) and they would leave it at the bottom door in teh common area.

I tend to have stuff delivered to work just to avoid the possibility of something sitting there all day. The times that stuff has been delivered to my home (which is quite often) we've never had any issues.

They leave inside the main door of the apartment building or at the leasing office. Either one works for me, my neighbors don't steal crap.

I had UPS once leave a big ass package with a huge "DELL" logo all over it. It wasn't stolen.

It was only a docking station but it could have easily been a laptop or computer or whatever. Nobody bothers it.

But usually I have stuff delivered to work, just because they normally don't leave packages at my door, they deliver to the office on the property and half the time they were either never there or they were there, but gone and locked up when I got home.

I'm in an apartment building so it's not a problem. Someone must let them in. I end up with packages right in front of my door, or sometimes just inside my room if it's my building manager who lets in the delivery guy (it's cool, he asked me beforehand if I'd be okay with him opening my door just to put packages in my room and I said yes).

I'm a little confused though because my building manager works during the day like everyone else. There must be someone else there letting in the delivery guys, or they have keys. Maybe I'm missing something obvious. I've just never lived in an apartment building before. Always a house or a duplex with its own outside door.

UPS and FedEx leave it on my door steps all the time. I only had a package stolen once. As I was leaving for work one morning, I noticed my neighbors had some contractors fixing and cleaning up a flooded basement. I was thinking, "Boy, I hope the UPS/FedEx guy doesn't just leave the package in front of them". At work, I logged into their website where it said that the package was delivered that afternoon but when I got home there was nothing there. I'm positive it was those contractors -- I hope they choke on those memory sticks.

I used to have them leave it on my porch and never had anything taken but I live on a cul-de-sac and my porch is somewhat concealed by hedges. Now I just have my stuff delivered to me at work so I don't have to worry about the remote possibility that someone would take if from my porch.

I now live in an condo complex (really apartments that were converted into condos) so there's no main office that will take packages. Every other place I've lived has had an apartment office/onsite conceirge that would take care of signing for the packages. I asked the receiving guy at work and he said he is fine accepting personal packages for me, so I'm going to go with that for anything over $50. Don't really see the need for it to sit out all day.

It really bothers me when they do that. Just yesterday in fact, FedEx left my new Swan M200MkII speakers on my doorstep. Fortunately, I tracked the package at work, so I was able to make it home within 20 minutes after FedEx's website showed the package as delivered. If I couldn't track the thing, it'd just sit there for 7 hours until I got home! :|

I don't live in the best neighborhood. And the front porch is like the worst possible place. My house is up on a hill overlooking the street and the front steps are basically a 4 step pedestal in front of the door, so the package beside the door ON TOP OF THE STEPS is extremely obvious to anyone walking by. They could at least leave the package in the back of the pickup in the driveway. One time UPS set it there. Or maybe behind the plants that flank the stairs.

I really should leave a note stuck to the door with directions on stowing the stuff. I've never had a package stolen before, but our lawnmower was pilfered from the garage once while we were at home.
