How many of you are in danger of being laid off?

I hope not... I just accepted an offer to move to a new department; I assume the department manager wouldn't have made the offer if he thought layoffs were a remote possibility.

Sure, but I don't really think much about it. Not much I can do, so I just carry on every day.

I cannot even get a proper job, let alone get laid off by one. I graduated two years ago and the best I could do was part-time work at $65 per day, bumped up to $75 at the end. I'm hiding out in grad school right now, but afterword I need to find a proper job.

I am open to going into a new field. Though I am a bit tired of school so I would like to get into something using a professional avenue. I need enough money to pay CC bill, school loans, rent, and a car payment. I desperately want a new vehicle as mine is 17 years old. I will have a Master's in English and a B.A. in English and a B.A. in Telecommunications (focusing on video production). So I really don't know how to start my career.

Edit: Should say almost three years now. Forget it has been another year almost. Time flies when you are poor.

I'm a grad student and my research group is having bad budget problems, so it's highly likely that they'll no longer be able to pay me for my research. If it comes to that, I have to pray that there are enough TA positions open.

Otherwise, I can probably pick up a few tutoring jobs and completely drain my savings over the next few years before I get my PhD. So it's not completely bad, but yes, I am at risk of losing my income

I'm at an internship-like position, which is rather temporary in nature anyway.

my company had announced layoffs in november, so from then until the layoffs in february, i was in the "very much so in danger" train of thought. now i'm in "somewhat" as the market declines.

I don't believe so, but it's foolish to not consider such a thing happening these days...

Not at all. My company is in the finance industry and it'll be one of the few left standing when this shitstorm clears.

It could happen, I guess. I am not too worried. Got a nice nest egg saved up, and would use it as a break to go see the world.

Our team was told during a meeting this morning that it is highly unlikely anybody will be laid off. But who knows, nothing is ever guaranteed.

I've been underemployed for several months now, but it is looking more like unemployed in the next few weeks.
