How many of you are frantically trying to sell your old TVs?

With the steep price cuts on flat panel TVs this year, I'm guessing many more will be sold this year than in past years, with market penetration into lower income households?

So are you trying to sell your CRT TV? I ditched my 5-yr old 32" WEGA last month for $200. That's 25% what I paid for it :| I figured it'd be harder to sell after Black Friday.

Meh, I have a 35" Sony CRT in my bedroom that I really wanna replace but since I know theres no way in hell I can afford a new LCD to replace it, even at the low prices, I might as well just hold onto it for a few more years.

I'm still waiting for HD to become the standard broadcast format for non-OTA programming. I don't live near a major city, and I don't feel like purchasing a dish HD receiver for hundreds of dollars just so I can also pay $5 more per month, too.

I've got a 32" CRT in the bedroom that I'd like to replace. Wife isn't keen on replacing it though since it still works fine for her (she doesn't care about picture quality).

I can't imagine being able to sell it though. I looked on eBay and Craigslist a couple of weeks ago and it seems like you can't even give CRTs away now...

Nope, my CRT still has wonderful picture quality, great contrast, perfect viewing from all angles, no problems with burn in, and can display the blackest of blacks. To top it off, my CRT can still do one thing: display the entertaining/educational TV/movies for my enjoyment. So why sell it? It'll do the same job your expensive TVs do for years without costing me another penny.

I have a 27" Panasonic GAIO. Old tv but has a good pic considering its old.
I can certainly afford a new HDTV but I have no clue what to get. I also do not want to pay 8k for that Pioneer 1080p thats out there. I'm a little biased towards Pioneer since I've used the brand over the years and have found the products to be of high quality in terms of performance, design and operation. I might just wait for them to release the regular 1080p plasma.

Taped a "FREE" sign to the TV and put it in front of the house in the morning. Was gone by the time I got home. That's how we roll around here.

I got rid of my tube TV last October when I bought a 26" LCD. Upgraded to a 50" plasma in July. Now I'm thinking about a projector for gaming and movies.

Yes, I watch a lot of TV.

it's not just non HD CRTs, I practically had to give away a 30 Samsung HDTV to get it out of the house. Put it up on the FSFT boards and ended up selling it for $225. They had to carry out it though.

Around here, we don't put up a "FREE" sign. That's how we roll.

Still doing just fine with my 10 yr old Sony Trinitron 27"...I have considered replacing it, not so much because of picture quality, (that's still very good) but because I get tired of watching movies in that skinny fvcking "widescreen format"...why the fvck do they have to release ALL movies that way? What ever happened to the old 4:3 format that fit "regular TV's"? How about giving the consumer some options, instead of forcing us to upgrade from a perfectly serviceable TV to newer technology, just to watch their movies?
Fortunately, we've exhausted all the NetFlix/Blockbuster movies we want to see, (haven't been many good releases lately) and will be cancelling this week. I can just go to Blockbuster.Hollywood for something I really want to see...

My 27in Trinitron will probably go in the basement once we get a HDTV. I figure I'll hook the PS2 into it at that point as well so the boy can play games and watch those kiddy DVDs he loves so much over the winter time.

CRTs get the job done. I want to buy both an LCD TV and an LCD monitor, that way when I eventually move, I'll have less luggage to take with me.

However, I just cant justify spending any money on such an item if what i have currently works. I mean the 17" LCD on black friday is only going to cost $79, and that still just doesnt seem worth it.
It almost feels like throwing 80 bucks down the toilet.

true, whats the point of upgrading when there is no need and prices will be lower later?

I think you mean GAOO Superflat ;)

Why would I know? I have the exact same TV! Built in 1993, it's been an awesome workhorse all these years.

Unfortunate part is that for the past two years it's been exhibiting some blooming problems where bright scenes cause it to expand the picture (for example: I sometimes can't see the ticker at the bottom of ESPN) and it displays some color bleeding where skin tones seem to bleed into the background. It's also gotten to the point where I have to crank up the brightness to its upper limit in order to get proper black levels.

Sigh, I guess it's almost time to retire it.

No, because I'm a student.
I'm just glad I got a free 28" tube for my student house.

We're keeping our Apex 13" as a "backup" and giving away our Toshiba 27".

50" DLP and new LCD on the way, we're prepared :)
