How many of you actually use ALL of the ink on your pen?

I think I got through about at least 4 different pens during the week at work, before:

a: someone takes it or borrows it
b: I just lose it somewhere
c: Take it to class and just lose it at home

I dont think this is just me, but the pen business should be lucrative as hell....I cant name 3 people that can use pens all the way down to the end...

I have a gold cross pen & pencil set that never leaves my desk. I carry a cheap uni-ball pen with me when I am out of the office as I am prone to leave them lying around.

We're in the ad specialty business, so we're constantly getting samples of pens (and stuff) from different companies. I think Bic sends us samples every other week. NEVER a pen shortage around here.

If I can manage to keep a pen long enough I'll use it to the end, but usually I lose it or loan it out, never to be seen again.

One of my coworkers in QC keeps every pen that she empties during the course of her work. Her box now has about 500 empty pens in it. Thats insane.

I have emptied ONE pen. Took me four years.... In fact, the four years i was in college. That's right, I used one pen the entire time i was in college. I bought a 12-pack thinking i would need them. Still have the 6 in the pack. I lost the other 5.

About 20 minutes ago, while correcting a paper, my pen ran out of ink. (red)

Only about the 4th time that's happened to me. Usually they just stop working before they run out of ink.

I dont think I have EVER used a pen to the bottom. I just lose it or it gets put into a pen box or something

I hate to write, and I don't do it very often, and when I do, I don't write very much.

That said, I do not lose pens, I either use them up, or they stop working before they run out of ink. I've noticed the cheapo generic pens tend to stop working before they run out of ink, but the cheapo BIC or PenMate pens tend to work until they run out of ink ....

I have probably gone through about a dozen pens in the last 5 years, 5 or 6 due to using them up, and the rest due to them ceasing to work, or because they may have become destroyed.

I run them dry, or in the case of one final where the objective was to "write everything you learned this semester," after seven or eight hours of gripping the pen my body heat did something to the ink and it wouldn't flow anymore.

I went through two Papermates in all of university. Kind of felt good to see them through to the end. Since entering the real world though, people stole my pens all the time in my last job. It pissed me off at first as I would have about a dozen pens in my cup to start the day, and be down to my last one a couple days later.

Now I try to not care, but there is something about careless pen thieves that just irks me. That pen was MINE, dammit. Get your own. Why do I place such high importance on an 11 cent mass-produced Bic? I might be insane.

I'm pretty good about keeping track of my pens. I'm always bummed when I lose 'em.

I've emptied a few gel pens, but never a regular ball-point. Another way I finish off a pen is by leaving them in my clothes and forgetting to take them out before doing laundry.

I by far use a mechanical pencil at work more than any pen and I go through the lead on those pretty quickly.

But I tend to just jot notes with that and type up everything else.
