Cool, NL5. The band I play in is an 80's hair band tribute called "Slutbanger". Sort of crude, but we do have it trademarked, as we have signed with a small label and are going to release a cd of cover tunes to sell at local shows. We've also been writing new stuff in the same vein as much of the stuff we cover, stuff like Warrant, Skid Row, just stuff we grew up on. We have fun playing it, and apparently others enjoy it, as we generally draw a pretty decent crowd.

I've been in a few different bands, many moons ago. I've played a lot of the prominent rock venues along Sunset in LA, but weeknight-type gigs. It's cool to say I've played the Whiskey a Go-Go and the Roxy and stuff, though.

Now I don't have a group, but I'm kinda sorta keeping an eye out for a blues cover band to jam with and maybe get a live gig now and again at a dive bar somewhere.

That's actually very cool that you've played the sunset strip clubs. I don't know if it's still the case today, but back in the day those were THE places to play.

I'm a drummer. Studied with jazz drummer (used to play with Charlie Byrd, for anyone old enough to remember his contribution to the bossa-nova craze of the early 60's) for 2 years. Still play but haven't been in a band for awhile. Used to play lots of parties and clubs in classic rock band (Cream, Stones, ZZ Top etc) in east coast circa 80's/90's.

I was a professional bass player for a long time - studio, fill-in gigs and so on. I was in a folk-rock band called Menagerie (it's a common band name) back in the late 60's-70's, we toured all the little places and dives, any place that would let us on the stage. No fame or fortune but great times and we met tons of awesome people. We once opened for the Who at a private gig where they were held up in the weather or something and were really late and they needed some random music to fill in and we were in the area and available. It's cool to mention that we opened for the Who.

Later, my son-in-law was in a Death Metal band when he first met my daughter, they were a singer (son in law), a great drummer and a guitarist who didn't always show up. I dug out my bass and started playing with them and really loved it - love the intensity. Way more fun than I ever imagined. If I stood in the back with the dim lighting you couldn't tell I'm a grandmother. The usual happened to that band, marriage kids & real jobs, and we only get together every so often.

Don't remember any of that band names, they changed it all the time.

Yeah, I like trying to play other styles of music besides what I'm used to, it stretches me as a player, and usually makes me a better player at the same time. If you want some real fun, try playing in the pit band for a musical some time, some of that stuff is crazy!

A little of this and that. Producer/ Engineer mainly. Worked for Journey/ Nocturne Lighting for 14+ years. I'm setting up a music room in the other room. I have a JS80 keyboard module and a GR synth. Need to replace my Roland Ready Strat my brother stole/sold.

I play guitar. If I wasn't lazy, I'd call some of the numbers in the guitar store around here to play with a band.

I played the trumpet for 18 years, and at one point was pretty good. But after college, put the horn down and haven't picked it up since.

I've been in bands pretty steadily for the last twelve years. I spent four years living on dollar menus while touring as the bassist for a jam band, until the hippies and lifestyle drove me over the edge. Now I'm playing guitar in a cover band, and enjoying every minute of it. I'm a mediocre at best guitar player at best, kinda like Guitar George, I know all the chords. These days I spend a lot more time building guitars and effects than I do actually playing.

More of a collector than a player, but I did play a little bit with a local night club band a few years back. I got a couple of buddies that are lifer musicians and I occasionally get to sit in on one of their gigs playing rythmn guitar or mando, sometimes bass.

Play bass guitar, piano, and trumpet. Haven't performed in front of a group since college though. Miss doing that, but way too busy to get anything consistent going with anyone.

I think his original post made reference to getting a warning for another thread. Then he must have edited a mods comment in this thread.

I could be wrong though.....
