If they were burried inside the moon, then who knows?

Have you been listening to howard stern?
Correct. The particles that the earth and moon consist of are held together by the gravitation caused by their own mass. This is why they are roughly spherical btw. In order to completely blow up the moon, the forces would need to be great enough to separate the particles far enough away from their own collective gravities, otherwise the moon would simply reform within its own gravity well.Originally posted by: KruptosAngelos

What we'd have to do is take an expert drill team up there. Land them on the backside of it and let them drill about 800 feet down. Tell the most annoying crew member that the arming mechanism is broken so he needs to stay behind to blow it. Then just watch the fireworks.
