yeah I'm sure driving preferences play a big role but lets I usually just coast to a red light or stop sign. So I'm not a heavy user. How many miles would you say?

Too many variables. Replace the pads when they are worn out, rotors when they can't be turned without going below min thickness spec.

It really isn't complicated.

I get about 20k out of the front pads and rotors. I get 30k out of the rear pads and at least 30k out of the rear rotors.

20k - 30k out of pads. Much longer out a set of rotors if you don't let the pads get down to the point where they grind grooves into them. Or if they're warped.

A lot of people, and a lot of brake shops would have you believe that the rotors need to be turned every time the pads are changed. This is absolutely not true.

Only reason rotors needs to be turned:

1. Gouges deeper than a specified thickness.
2. Warpage. Even then I always replace - if they're warped, they'll warp again.
3. Under minimum thickness.

Most of the automakers are now recommending just changing pads and leaving the rotors if none of the above is true.

I just got new pads and rotors turned on my car at 10,700 miles. All covered under warranty. Crappy GM factory parts.

Pads make noise = replace.

I got about 34k on my 2500 Ram on the stock pads, and I had to replace the passenger rotor was deeply scored.

I got just short of 70k out of my stockers on my Zuk. I just replaced them about 4 months ago.

Brought in my 2000 Acura TL for its 60K check last Aug...the service advisor told me that I probably had another 5k miles before needing to replace the original pads (but there was a slight vibration when I braked).

I had them replace all the pads and turn the rotors (for $150 at dealer which wasn't bad)...

anyway, the braking is totally smooth now...

So to answer the OP's question, 60K miles to replace the pads and turn the rotors (they were not replaced)...
